The Most Rev. Ray R. Sutton serves as the Presiding Bishop of the Reformed Episcopal Church (REC) and the Ordinary of the Diocese of Mid America. He is also the Dean of the Province and Ecumenical Affairs of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), of which the Reformed Episcopal Church is a founding member and special jurisdiction. Bishop Sutton often lectures at ACNA and Reformed Episcopal Seminaries, and is a popular retreat speaker.
A native of Kentucky and a Dallas resident since he was 13, Bishop Sutton received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southern Methodist University and his Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. From 1976 to 1991, he served as a parish minister. Following this, he pursued doctoral studies in an associated research program at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford with Coventry University, from which he received his Ph.D.
He became the Dean and Professor of New Testament at the Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia, and continues as an adjunct professor today. Later, Bishop Sutton functioned as Dean and Professor of Theology at Cranmer Theological House, where he continues to teach. He has also authored four books on theology, his most recent being Signed, Sealed and Delivered: A Study of Holy Baptism.
Bishop Sutton is married to Susan Jean Schaerdel of Dallas, a fellow graduate of Southern Methodist University. The Suttons have seven children and four grandchildren. The Suttons live in Dallas where Bishop Sutton’s residential offices are at the Cathedral of the Church of the Holy Communion.
The Right Reverend Frank Walter Brulc born and raised in Joliet, Illinois. In 2000, Bishop Brulc attended St. Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College, the residential seminary of the Anglican Province of Christ the King. Bishop Brulc was ordained to the diaconate in November 2001. He was ordained to the priesthood in June 2002 at St. Nicholas Anglican Church where he served as Rector until 2010. In 2009, Bishop Brulc was appointed Canon to the Ordinary and in 2010 Bishop Brulc and his family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. In July 2010, he became Rector of All Saints Anglican Cathedral in Tulsa. In 2012, Bishop Brulc was elected Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of the Southwestern States and Bishop Ordinary in 2016. Leaving the Anglican Province of Christ the King in November 2017, Bishop Brulc began volunteer work as a hospice visitor. In January 2021, he began volunteer work for Meals-on-Wheels of Tulsa. Bishop Brulc returned to the active ordained ministry in May 2022, being received into the Reformed Episcopal Church as a clergyman by the Most Reverend Ray Sutton, Presiding Bishop of the REC. Bishop Brulc began working full-time as a Hospice Chaplain/Director of Bereavement Services for TruHeart Hospice, LLC in July 2023. In December 2023, Bishop Brulc was licensed by Archbishop Foley Beach of the Anglican Church in North America to serve as an Assisting Bishop in the Reformed Episcopal Church/ACNA. In January 2025, Bishop Ray Sutton appointed Bishop Brulc as Vicar of Church of Our Savior in Joplin, Missouri. He and his wife, Kathleen have one adult daughter and reside in Tulsa with an undisclosed number of cats.
