We welcome all Christians to worship with us. "Anglicanism" describes the form and heritage of our expression of faith, but the faith itself is "Mere Christianity" to use the phrase made famous by C.S. Lewis (himself an Anglican).
We invite all Christians who have been baptized in the name of the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to partake of the Holy Eucharist.
Simply receive the host on the tongue (or in the hand) and guide the chalice to your lips. If you are receiving in the hand, place your dominant hand under your non-dominant hand, creating a "throne" for Christ. After the host is placed in your hand, you may then use your dominant hand to place the host in your mouth.
We also offer Holy Communion by intinction (meaning we dip the consecrated bread in the consecrated wine and place it on the communicant’s tongue).
A person may also receive in one kind (meaning just the consecrated bread, received in the communicant’s palm or on the tongue.) Cross one hand over the opposite shoulder and receive with the other hand or on the tongue to signal to the servers that you are receiving in one kind.
People refraining from receiving Holy Communion, either because they are not yet baptized or for conscience’s sake, can still come forward and receive a blessing.
Nursery: We currently do not have a staffed nursery, but we do welcome all children into the life of the church and encourage their participation in the liturgy and worship of our Christ our Savior. We do have a nursery room for mothers to take their children should they so desire. There are coloring/activity sheets that pertain to the Scripture readings of the day available for your children during the service.
Christian Formation: We currently have an all church Christian Formation Class (Sunday School) that follows most Communion services except for Potluck Sundays. We also take a break from class during the summer. Please see the Parish Calendar for more details. Anyone of any age is welcome. We cover a variety of topics, including Biblical Studies, Anglican Formation, Church History, and Apologetics & Culture.
Church of Our Savior worships with the 2005 Book of Common Prayer of the Reformed Episcopal Church (a prayer book using traditional language and which is taken from the 1662 BCP and the 1928 BCP). Physical Prayer Books are provided for you in the pews. You may also access a PDF here.
